In case you're wondering, Séan McCann is doing just fine since leaving the Rock's musical institution, Great Big Sea, in 2013. You can hear just how fine, when he hosts this edition of My Playlist on Inside The Music.

Great Big Sea wasn't just a band, it was a musical "brand." It took a lot of people and bucks to keep it all going. Now that McCann has gone out on his own, instead of sold-out hockey arenas he performs in more intimate venues. They're often in small towns and cities, where he can actually see his audience face-to-face. There’s no more big time management and publicity machine. Just McCann: sober, engaged with life and glad to be doing what he's doing.

But McCann hasn't forgotten his G.B.S. roots. The band is well represented his My Playlist show, along with tracks by the Clash, Joel Plaskett, Jeremy Fisher, the Waterboys and more.

The party may be a bit more subdued but Séan McCann still knows how to have fun.

Former Great Big Sea band member Séan McCann is now a solo artist.
