Back to Life (However do you want me)

At a time when everyone in North America was trying to sound like New Edition across the pond in the U.K.soul singers were pushing boundaries, delving into Hip Hop, house and creating alternative spins on what neo-soul could be. Soul II Soul’s “Back to Life” was a number 1 hit and is one of the best dance songs of all time. The first version of the song was done completely accapella and featured the powerful vocals of British R&B singer Caron Wheeler. It was pretty amazing, but when they added instrumentation, the whole effect was taken to the next level influencing the next generation of British pop with its break beat and high-energy music video. We’re taking you back to the late 80’s right now. This is Soul II Soul with “Back to Life.”

Do Me, Baby

In the late ‘80’s Prince was a name on everyone’s lips. With over a decade under his belt of shocking audiences reinventing sounds and pushing the boundaries on music, film and fashion it was easy to think that there was nothing more he could do to shock. Think again. In 1989 Prince released a 19 minute EP recording entitled The Scandalous Sex Suite.
Described as a lovers dialogue the rumor is that it was a recording of him and actress Kim Basinger having sex although the details were – in typical Prince fashion – shrouded in mystery. The studio engineer at Paisely Park reportedly excused himself from the recording once the jar of honey came out. Don’t worry, We couln't find the footage anywhere, but we are going to bless your ears and eyes with something sweet. One of the sexiest songs in his catalogue.
This is Prince with a live performance of “Do Me, Baby.”

Versace on the Floor

Earlier this year Bruno Mars performed a tribute for Prince at the Grammy’s and although Prince was famous for being unapologetically unforgiving during tributes for him we think he would have been proud to see Bruno and his band grinding on cue. This is new music from Bruno Mars “Versace on the Floor.”
