Radio 2 Top 20 Aug 14: Vance Joy, Junius Meyvant debut, Barenaked Ladies jump into the top 10

Talia Schlanger

On this week's chart we have two new entries that span the globe. Australia's Vance Joy and Iceland's Junius Meyvant both debut.

For two weeks in a row, the Vancouver duo with the scariest name in showbiz, The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, were in the top spot with "Don't Make Em Like They Used To."

This week they slip down out of first place and another Canadian duo from the other side of the country have taken their spot. Newfoundland's Fortunate Ones are perched at number one with "Lay Me Down."

Barenaked Ladies jump up seven spots to land in the top ten with their super catchy but medically unsound song "Duct Tape Heart." The band recently dropped by CBC Studio 211 for a First Play Live Session.

Over on the poll, we have six new songs to vote on, including one from Ottawa's Kalle Mattson who won the internet this week with his homage to his favourite album covers.
