Radio 2 Top 20, Jan. 16: the New Basement Tapes at number 1, Alan Doyle in top 5

Nana aba Duncan

This week, the chart undergoes a major reno with seven new entries, including "Champions of Red Wine" by New Pornographers, "Lampshades on Fire" by Modest Mouse and "Runnin'" by Frazey Ford.

Because of his win in the polls this week, Alan Doyle jumped seven places to number three with "So Let's Go." Also up seven places, U2 breaks into the top half of the chart with "Every Breaking Wave." Last week's number one song, "From Eden" by Hozier, gets nudged out by the supergroup interpreting old Bob Dylan lyrics, The New Basement Tapes. More on the chart below.

I just checked: Paolo Nutini still looks like a chiseled superhero. But you won't see him in this odd and dramatic video for his single "One Day," featuring an aging stage performer who gains her youth through stolen jewels.
