While Aerosmith is currently on hiatus, it appears that the veteran rock stars are going to officially call it quits next year with a planned farewell tour.
Lead singer Steven Tyler revealed this news during his appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show last week. “I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this.… We’re doing a farewell tour, but only because it’s time,” Tyler told Stern. “We’ve never done that.”
When asked to confirm if the other members of Aerosmith knew of this plan, Tyler said yes and went on to joke that this won’t be one in a string of farewell tours like Kiss or the Who. “They did 19 farewell tours,” Tyler said.
This 2017 Aerosmith tour will follow Tyler’s string of solo dates this summer to promote his country album We’re All Somebody From Somewhere.
