How to watch the 2016 Polaris Music Prize on Sept. 19

Holly Gordon

On Monday, Sept. 19, the 11th Polaris Music Prize will be awarded during a live gala at the Carlu in Toronto. Each year, 10 artists on the short list vie for the title of best Canadian album of the year, and this year that group includes Andy Shauf, Basia Bulat, Black Mountain, Carly Rae Jepsen, Grimes, Jessy Lanza, Kaytranada, Pup, U.S. Girls and White Lung.

We want to help you watch the live gala, no matter where you are.

First, you can tune in to CBC-TV at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 to catch CBC Music’s Polaris Music Primer, a special hosted by Talia Schlanger that’ll give you everything you need to know the night before the gala, featuring performances and interviews with Carly Rae Jepsen, Grimes, Basia Bulat and more.

On Sept. 19, a.k.a. gala night, the show starts at 8 p.m. ET, and you can head to to watch the full thing, which will run about two-and-a-half hours.
