Celebrating the best of Canadian music from 2017. The Polaris Prize awards the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. Hear this year's short-list nominees A Tribe Called Red, Tragically Hip, Leonard Cohen, Feist and more
Feist, Patrick Watson, Tanya Tagaq and Arcade Fire have all won it, along with a handful of other Canadian musicians since its creation in 2006. Now celebrating its 11th year, the Polaris Music Prize is set to present an award to the best album of the year (based solely on merit) a week from today at an annual gala in Toronto on Sept. 19, which you can watch live from cbcmusic.ca/polaris.
In order to get excited for the event, we've brought back our Polaris Picks stream, a carefully selected group of tracks celebrating all that is Polaris, with winners and nominees from over the years. You'll hear songs from this year's nominees, including Basia Bulat, Andy Shauf and Carly Rae Jepsen, to past nominees Whitehorse, Metric, Braids and so many more. Hit play above to tune in, and keep an eye on cbcmusic.ca/polaris for all the news you'll need leading up to the gala night.
