Watch Drake's Please Forgive Me short film

Del Cowie

After teasing its existence for a while on his Instagram account, Drake finally released his Please Forgive Me short film through Apple Music last night. Directed by Anthony Mandler, who also helmed Drake's "Find Your Love" and "Over" videos, the 20-minute clip is billed as being inspired by Drake's latest studio album Views, released earlier this year.

The film's plot features Drake's girlfriend receiving an indecent proposal, leading to a spiral of underworld machinations and violence. The clip contains a number of tracks from Views, including long-awaited mini clips for hit singles "Controlla" and "One Dance." The "One Dance" section of the film features an appearance by Kyla. "One Dance" prominently sampled "Do You Mind?," the 2008 U.K. funky house song by Crazy Cousinz and Kyla. The film also stars dancehall artist Popcaan, who appeared on the original version of "Controlla," acting alongside the Toronto hip-hop artist as one of Drake's henchman.

The short film was lensed in South Africa and Namibia and also features legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti's "Colonial Mentality" in its soundtrack, put together by Drake's longtime producer Noel '40' Shebib.
