With fall weather well upon us, let's put our time machines back to May and the sunny 2016 CBC Music Festival. Traditionally, our full day of programming at Echo Beach in Toronto has been the festival that kicks off the summer season, and this year was no different. It was an unusually hot day for the end of May, and it was a sign of things to come for the summer 2016.
Newfoundland's Hey Rosetta! was the headliner at this year's CBC Music Festival, and the band took the stage just as the sun was setting. Hey Rosetta! tore through a set of material that had been road-tested for several months, getting the crowd on its feet. The news of Gord Downie's cancer diagnosis had just been released, and Hey Rosetta! couldn't help but pay tribute to the Tragically Hip with a cover of "Ahead by a Century."
Check out that song below, as well as a few others, from Hey Rosetta!'s amazing CBC Music Festival set.
