Laila Biali covers Neil Young's 'Heart of Gold'

Editorial Staff

Toronto-based singer, pianist and arranger Laila Biali celebrated Canada’s 150 birthday by recording a cover of Neil Young’s classic song “Heart of Gold.”

“Neil Young is one of Canada's living legends,” she said via press release, “and while 'Heart of Gold' references places that are stateside, the song has become something of a Canadian anthem. Its refrain – 'You keep me searching for a heart of gold' – is a universal and timeless message, one that resonates today as much as ever.”

The cover features Biali on vocals and piano, Adam Thomas on vocals, Robi Botos on organ, George Koller on bass and Larnell Lewis on drums.

This summer you can also hear Biali guest hosting on CBC Radio 2’s national jazz show, Tonic, from July 3 to 15 and Aug. 28 to Sept. 2. Find more details here.
