Partner, New Pornographers, Alvvays: Radio 3's top 30 songs for the week of Oct. 2, 2017

Editorial Staff

After releasing a long-awaited debut earlier this month, rock duo Partner breaks onto our top 30 with the song "Play the Field." Guitarist Josée Caron describes the song as being about "...admiring, romanticizing, and desiring the dignified excellence that seems to come along with being good at sports, knowing it’s something you will never truly experience but not really minding because you’re stoked that you get to hang out with your crush at practice.” Watch the video for the song, directed by Lesley Marshall, below.

The New Pornographers re-enter the chart this week with a new song called "Darling Shade," from their most recent album Whiteout Conditions. The band is currently on an extended North American tour — you can check dates here.

Other debuts this week include "Unglued" from Mo Kenny at #27 and "We Called It Love" from Stars at #21.

Alvvays climbs to the top this week with "Dreams Tonite," the shimmering single from their latest album Antisocialites.
