It was great while it lasted.
Last year, CBC Music held three intimate sessions with three renowned singer-songwriters at an unlikely location. b.b. gun leather was a tiny, rustic workshop in a garage in East Vancouver, and it's where Father John Misty, John Paul White (formerly of the Civll Wars) and Mac DeMarco each performed separately to a small, invite-only audience.
All three did stripped-down versions of some of their best original material, and each artist did a special cover as well. Father John Misty's incredible version of Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" has been viewed on YouTube almost two million times — check that out that, and other BB Gun Session video performances, below.
Even though b.b gun leather has shuttered its doors, these sessions have been compiled into a radio program called Open Air, hosted by Grant Lawrence, which will be heard across B.C. at 5 p.m. local time on CBC Radio One on Saturday, Oct. 28. If appointment listening isn't your thing, you can listen to the entire show below.
