Zaki Ibrahim, Wolf Parade, Blue Hawaii: Radio 3's top 30 songs for the week of Jan. 8, 2018

Editorial Staff

One of the most anticipated Canadian albums of 2018 has to be Zaki Ibrahim's The Secret Life of Planets. It will be the singer-songwriter's sophomore album, and her first since her Polaris Music Prize shortlisted debut Every Opposite. It is due out on January 31 and the album's first single, "Cold Feet," and it debuts this week at #28.

Wolf Parade returned from a long hiatus with a vengeance last year, and the addictive dance-rock track "Artificial Life" is the highest debut on our chart, checking in at #24.

Other debuts this week includes one from Darlene Shrugg, a Toronto supergroup made up of Meg Remy (U.S. Girls), Max Turnbull (Slim Twig) and members of Ice Cream, Fake Palms, as well as backing vocals from F**ked Up’s Ben Cook. "Strawberry Milk" edges on to the chart at #30. "Drop The Guillotine" from Peach Pit is also new on the chart at #26.

Raphaelle Standell (Braids) and Alexander Kirby, who make up the duo Blue Hawaii, climb to the top with "Tenderness" after seven weeks on the chart.
