Tokyo Police Club, Alice Merton, Bonjay: Radio 3's top 30 songs for the week of May 21, 2018

Indie rock veterans Tokyo Police Club return with a new single called "New Blues," which checks in at #23 on our top 30 this week. The Toronto quartet is currently working on a full-length, after spending time last year writing new material together in a church in rural Ontario.

It's not often that a Canadian indie artist achieves a worldwide hit, but that's exactly what German-Canadian-English pop singer-songwriter Alice Merton did in 2016 with her song "No Roots," which went all the way to #1 in France and hit top 10 charts all over Europe. Now she's back with an anthemic new dance single called "Lash Out," and it's the highest debut on our chart this week at #21.

Also debuting on the chart this week is Long Branch with "Lilacs," Sloan with "Spin Our Wheels," and Kellarissa with "Black Sea."

Bonjay climbs to the top of the chart this week with "Chelsea," the first single from the new album Lush Life. Read our Q & A with the band about the album, which was eight years in the making.
