Canadian Music Class Challenge 2018: the video submissions period has ended

Grant Lawrence

Have you registered your music class? Selected your song? Learned to perform it almost as well (or better) than the original? Have you created a video of the performance?

If you've answered "yes" to all of the above, then starting Oct. 2, music teachers may now submit their 2018 Canadian Music Class Challenge performance videos to CBC Music, using the instructions provided upon registration. Soon, you'll see your video live to the world on the CBC Music YouTube channel. Winners will be declared in December. Seven classes will receive $5,000 worth of new musical instruments for the classroom.

And while there is no prizing or judging advantage to submitting your video early, we do often select and feature earlier entries here on CBC Music and CBC-TV.

If you are still learning your song, or haven't even registered yet, don't sweat it. The deadline for video submissions isn't until Nov. 27, so you still have plenty of time. If you have any questions, let us know at

Good luck and have fun!
