Mezzo-soprano Wallis Giunta will take over CBC Music's Instagram on Thursday, April 4.
She'll be at Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto that day for the opening of Opera Atelier's production of Mozart's Idomeneo. Giunta sings the role of Idamante, sharing the stage with sopranos Measha Brueggergosman (Elettra) and Meghan Lindsay (Ilia) and — in the title role — tenor Colin Ainsworth.
Giunta was named young singer of the year at the 2018 International Opera Awards and young artist of the year in The Arts Desk's Best of 2017. During her Instagram takeover, she will take us behind the scenes of Opera Atelier's production, for a look at one day in the life of a professional opera singer.

Following Opera Atelier's run of Idomeneo, Giunta returns to Oper Leipzig, where she's based, for a final performance of the title role in Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, concluding a huge season during which she also sang Bizet's Carmen and Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia. This summer, she'll sing Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Grange Festival in the U.K. as well as the role of Dodo McNeill in the Edinburgh Festival's production of Missy Mazzolini and Royce Vavrek's operatic adaptation of Breaking the Waves.
Be sure to follow CBC Music on Instagram and watch for Giunta's takeover from Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre on April 4.
